Jan Bettink Named President of vdp (Association of German Pfandbrief Banks)

Succeeds Henning Rasche in the post

Jan BettinkJan BettinkAt the Members' Meeting of the Association of German Pfandbrief Banks (vdp) held June 10 in Berlin, Jan Bettink, Chairman of the Board of Managing Directors of Berlin-Hannoversche Hypothekenbank AG (Berlin Hyp), was elected President of the vdp.

Bettink, 55, takes over the office from Henning Rasche, who served as vdp's President from December 2005 and whose term of office has now ended.

Kees Westermann to Lead Linklater's Dutch Structured Finance Group

Practice has included securitizations and covered bonds

Linklaters announced (March 8) that Kees Westermann will lead the global law firm's new structured finance practice in Amsterdam.  According to Linklaters, Kees joins the firm from Clifford Chance, where his structured finance work included securitizations and covered bonds.

U.S. Rep. Scott Garrett, Jens Tolckmitt Meet on Covered Bonds

Elizabeth Padova Hanson — a longtime proponent of covered bonds as a funding tool in the U.S. — has joined Barclays Capital as a managing director in its asset securitization origination business.

Tim Skeet Appointed to ICMA Board

Tim SkeetTim SkeetTim Skeet, head of covered bonds at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, is one of three new appointments to the governing board of the International Capital Market Association (ICMA), it was announced Wednesday (Nov. 11).

The ICMA describes itself as a "self-regulatory organisation and trade association representing constituents and practitioners in the international capital market worldwide," with members in more than 40 countries.

Jefferies hires Domenico Crapanzano

Former Dresdner Kleinwort exec to head European rates trading

New York-based investment bank Jefferies & Co. Inc. announced (Oct. 19) that it has hired Domenico Crapanzano (formerly of Dresdner Kleinwort) as Managing Director and Head Trader of European Rates.  He will be responsible for "institutional sales and trading of government bonds and swaps, agencies, structured bonds, high grade securities, covered bonds, inflation products, as well as the repo finance business" (italics added).

Christof Jutten Joins Citi's DCM team

Formerly with Goldman Sachs

Christof Jutten, who previously served as executive director of European covered bond origination and FIG origination at Goldman Sachs, will join Citigroup Inc.'s European Debt Capital Markets team.

Mauricio Noé Expected to Join Deutsche Bank

Formerly headed covered bonds at RBS

Mauricio Noé is expected to join Deutsche Bank, according to reports in Dow Jones Newswires and EuroWeek.  He previously ran the covered bonds unit at Royal Bank of Scotland.

Among the pioneer lawyers in North American covered bonds

Jerry MarlattJerry MarlattJerry Marlatt has moved to the Morrison & Foerster law firm from Clifford Chance, according to an announcement today (July 9).

Marlatt is considered among the lawyers who have helped pioneer covered bonds in North America.  He is credited with helping to engineer the first issuance of covered bonds in U.S. history (by Washington Mutual).
