FSA Factsheet on UK Regulated Covered Bonds
The UK adopted specific covered bond legislation in March 2008, with the Financial Services Authority (FSA) as regulator. Among other things, the legislation provided an alternative to structured covered bonds in the form of Regulated Covered Bond (RCB) programs.
As noted by the law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, the FSA's newly-published (Jan. 11) factsheet "sets out (i) information on the term structure of the UK RCB market, (ii) what the FSA reviews when admitting a covered bond programme to the register, (iii) how the FSA monitors RCBs and (iv) what issuers must do to keep the RCB programmes on the RCB register."
