Although skeptical that covered bonds will arrive in the near future as a funding tool for the U.S., Keith H. Mullen wrote on the site (Dec. 22, 2009): 

"Covered bonds are our ultimate destination for a capital markets solution that includes the middle majority of the [commercial real estate] market.  Until then, we're only using a band aid.  We need to admit it, and get behind covered bonds...."
