NyKredit Presentation on Danish Covered Bonds

These slides from a seminar given by Denmark's Nykredit provide a good overview of that country's covered bond market (both current and anticipated).  The Danish mortgage finance structure has been advocated by George Soros for the U.S. market. 

In our view, this system offers an improvement over the current U.S. system in that (among other things) its mortgage contracts deliver 30-year fixed rate with an option to make penalty-free prepayments.   However, Denmark’s laws that support this structure (unlike anything in the U.S.) are critical to its success
