This one-page “case study” from Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) on CIBC’S landmark $2 billion U.S. dollar-denominated covered bond issue (Jan. 27) was released earlier this month to Covered Bond Investor.™  (click chart to enlarge)It includes a “summary of terms,” bullet points on “Deal Highlights” and two pie charts — one breaking down bond sales by country or region, the other by “investor type.”

Vince MaltaVince Malta is Vice President and Liaison to Government Affairs at the National Association of Realtors® (NAR).  This sixteen-page document contains his prepared written testimony for a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services Committee on March 23, 2010.  The topic of the hearing was "Housing Finance - What Should the New System Be Able to Do?"

This graphic, prepared by Covered Bond Investor™ cofounder Mercy Jiménez, is a timeline showing key events in the (short) history of covered bonds in the U.S.  It includes early issuance by Washington Mutual and Bank of America, which halted as the global economic crisis began to mount.

On the day before last month's landmark hearing on covered bonds by the U.S. House of Representatives' Committee on Financial Services, Congressman Scott Garrett (R-NJ) held a telephone press conference.  Accompanying him were Tim Skeet, head of covered bonds at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, and banking expert Bert Ely of the Ely & Company consulting firm.  Each of the three offered some initial remarks on covered bonds for the U.S. before answering questions from the news media.
