Vince Malta Testimony for HFSC Housing Finance Hearing

Vince MaltaVince Malta is Vice President and Liaison to Government Affairs at the National Association of Realtors® (NAR).  This sixteen-page document contains his prepared written testimony for a hearing of the U.S. House Committee on Financial Services Committee on March 23, 2010.  The topic of the hearing was "Housing Finance - What Should the New System Be Able to Do?"

Testifying on behalf of NAR, Malta recommends (among other things) that in the future, Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac should "pilot the use of covered bonds (e.g. to help improve liquidity for multifamily housing) in order to foster a better understanding of the tool, and then encourage its use in the nation's residential secondary mortgage market."
