As reported by Structured Finance News, "[i]n a sure sign that covered bonds are coming into favor, the session devoted to the subject at ASF 2010 was standing room only."
Describing comments from the covered bond panel at the ASF event — held in Washington, DC earlier this week — the report noted (among other things) panelists' agreement that passage of federal covered bond legislation would be very important for development of a market in the funding instrument here.
